We start our visit to Copenhagen Inner Harbour on Christiansholm Island:
In the middle of Copenhagen Inner Harbour is a small island Christiansholm situated.
From this island you have splendid views to all directions of the harbour:
– east to main entrance of the Copenhagen Harbour with Royal Danish Opera and Naval Base Copenhagen,
– west to new 180 meter walk-and bike slide bridge under construction, Knippels Bridge, Greenland Trade Storehouse, Danish Foreign Ministery with Eigtved Storehouse,
– north to entrance of Nyhavn and New Royal Playhouse.

The Inner Harbour of Copenhagen is a integrated part of Nyhavn Harbour from 1670-72, Holmen Harbour with Naval Base from 1680 and Christianshavn Fortress with canals, ramparts and moats from 1620.
Holmen:
The Royal Danish Marine was organized by King Hans in 1510 and Naval Base Holmen with Navy Shipyard “Orlogsværftet” (1680-1989) were constructed on 5 artificial islands from 1680 to 1750:
Nyholm Island, Frederiksholm Island, Arsenal Island, Dock Island and Christiansholm Island.
Christiansholm:
Christianholm is in island opposite Nyhavn Harbour and Royal Theater and a part of Inner Harbour Copenhagen. Christiansholm is surrounded by water on its 3 sides and is connected with a dam to Christianshavn on the southern side of the island.
From Copenhagen City (Kongens Nytorv, Nyhavn) you can arrive to Christiansholm by regular boat nr. 993 (only on weekdays) and by tour boats.
From Christianshavns Torv in Torvegade there are connections by Metro, bus 9A from all Copenhagen and from Christianshavn Torv you arrive to Christiansholm island by walking tour alongside the Christianshavn Canal via street “Overgaden oven Vandet” or via Prinsessegade.
In Christiansholm is Experimentarium City with 200 scientific activities for all people of all ages. Link: Experimentarium.dk
In 2012 the Copenhagen Municipality started constructions of 3 walk- and bike bridges to connect Nyhavn and Copenhagen City with Christianshavn and the 5 small islands in Holmen with Opera-, Music-, Theater-, Film- and Architecture schools, Naval Base Copenhagen, residental- and business areas.
The 3 bridges will establish clean and fast connections throughout all Copenhagen Inner Harbour, Holmen, Christianshavn and Nyhavn.
All 3 bridges have a free high of 2,4 meter to free passage of tour boats and small boats.
Chrisianshavn Canal is harbour to 2-300 sailing-, fish- and houseboats.
All the owners of the boats will be in control by mobil phone to open up leafs of 2 of the bridges: Trangravsbroen and Proviantbroen for free passage.
All 3 bridges are delayed caused by suspensions of payments by the construction firms in 2013.
Copenhagen Municipality has in 2014 signed new contracts with 2 new engineer companies to complete constructions of all 3 walk-and bike bridges in 2015:
1. Inderhavnsbroen – a 180 meter long slide bridge between Nyhavn and Christianshavn (North Atlantic Quay, Kgl. Grønlandske Handels Plads),
2. Trangravsbroen between North Atlantic Quay and Icelantic Square and Arsenal Island,
3. Proviantbroen between Arsenal Island and Frederiksholm Island.
