Light is electromagnetic atomic particles, fotones which originate from the sun as both wave motion and particle motion.
Light is white but when refracted in collision with atmosphere of the earth light is split up in its colors violet, blue, green, yellow, orange and red of different wavelengths between violet/blue of 400 nm and red of 700 nm.

When light hit the earth atmosphere the short wavelengths of Violet/blue spread their atomic particles more than the long wavelengths orange/red colors. Thats why the sky becomes blue in daytime.
At sunset the light from the sun passes much more earth atmosphere and the violet/blue 400 nm wavelengths are spread so much of atmosphere molecules that it is mostly yellow, orange and red colours of up to 700 nm wavelengths that dominate.
