Painter Per Baagøe shows his drawings and paintings in Norway Cottage, at Sophienholm close to Bagsvaerd Lake in Lyngby.

In late august 2014 painter Per Baagøe together with other artists sailed 3 days on expedition sailing boat “Rylen” from Fredericia Harbour to Hjarnoe Island in Horsens Fjord, Denmark.

In open sea Per Baagøe draws sketches with pencils and from september to november 2014 he painted his impressions from open sea with indian ink colours in his atelier in Copenhagen.

In the same period he painted in black and white the above and below painting, 3 x 6 m in The Norway Cottage (Norske Hytten) in Sophienholm as neighbour to Bagsvaerd Lake in Lyngby about 10 km. north of Copenhagen:

Expedition ship “Rylen” was builded in 1896 as fishing boat to fish heerings in the inner belts of Denmark.

In 1920 the danish artist and polar explorer Johannes Achton Friis  (1879-1939) bought the fisher boat “Rylen” and rebuilded it to an expedition sailboat.

From 1921-24 author and painter Johannes Achton Friis together with painter Johannes Larsen (1867-1961) sailed with expedition ship “Rylen” to most of the danish islands to explore its people and its nature.

After this 4 years expeditions and research they wrote the book  “The danish Islands”, “De Danske Øer” from 1926-28.

Today the expedition sailboat “Rylen” is owned by Johannes Larsen Museum (Østfyns Museer, Kerteminde/Nyborg) in Kerteminde with basis in Kerteminde Harbour.
